Ordination Anniversary

I’m sorry. I just had to post this.

Today will mark the first full year that I have been ordained by the Universal Life Church. Since that day I have performed 2 weddings which has been a heart warming experience. It is wonderful to be apart of this rite of passage with these families. It is hard to put into the words the joy of performing weddings and participating and witnessing their passage and vow to one another.

Being ordained also has me asking a lot of questions about religion and and priests and exactly what it means to be a Priest, drug
Father, more about
Minister, Pasteur, Reverend, etc…

I will also probably pick up a few more weddings or other rites this year as well.

THIS IS DAATAAAAAAA!!!

I’m sorry. I just had to post this.

"Three Days Grace"?

I have heard the group ‘Three Days Grace‘ and their new song ‘Never Too Late‘ and I like it. I have heard a bit more of their music and it is OK for me.

What comes to mind when I heard more of their music is ‘Nickleback on Metallica‘. Something about that does not strike me as right, bulimics but that is what comes to mind. The lead singer’s voice reminds me a little bit of Ozzie Osborne. I also think, illness strangely enough, ‘industrial faerie tale‘. I wonder what a shrink would say about that. =)

What say you?

"Speed Racer" (Review B)

To start this off, surgery believe it or not, more about I have never seen a Speed Racer cartoon or anything. I have heard of it plenty of times, but have never actually seen it. What attracted me to this movie is a few things: the fact the the Wachowski brothers are directing it (the same directors from the Matrix); I wanted to see what this Speed Racer thing was all about; and finally, I was curious to see how far they were taking the unique style that I was seeing in the previews.

I went to see “Speed Racer” last night and I liked it. I did not know what to expect since I know very little bit about the Speed Racer franchise if you will. All I knew is that he raced cars and their was going to be a lot of color (from the preview).

It was a psychedelic, tense, and fun 2.25 hour ride. I never noticed the time go by. The all star cast’s acting was stupendous, believable, and appropriate to this genre. The effects and colors were consistent and somehow fitting. Some of the acting was melodramatic but very appropriate. Good Movie!

Weight Loss Update

As I mentioned in a previous post I started on the Shangri-La Diet pretty much the day after Tanya left for Belarus (April 3), pharm which is exactly 6 weeks ago. In 6 weeks I have gone from 164lbs down to 150 lbs, illness which is a total of 14 lbs – about 2.3 lbs per week.

I am at a point where I think the Shargri-la diet should no longer be used for weight loss – just weight maintenance. I have some extra fat that I want gone, injection but I think that the rest will have to dealt with via a healthier (read calorically restricted) diet and exercise. Eventually, I can ween myself off the Shangri-la, once I get a more healthy diet plan in place which includes a lot of the CR healthy foods – some as mentioned above.

My previous diet was healthy – no (Partially) Hydrogenated Oils (PHO), no Monosodium Glutamate (MSG), and no High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFC) and a conscious thought of the foods I ate, but my main problem was that I was eating too much, especially when I went to my parent’s house. I love to eat delicious foods, so I, as many people do, gorge myself, which is not good. The Shangri-la allowed me to control my hunger and cravings. Yea!

I have tried a Caloric Restricted (CR) recipe – the Mega Meal Super Burrito – and I have added Brewers Yeast and Wheat Germ to my diet and, wow, are they really healthy for you. The Wheat Germ has as definite taste, but the Brewers Yeast is not so bad. I add both to my breakfast. I have also added some Tofu in albacore tuna, eggs, and some lite mayonnaise (a little tuna and egg salad). I just wish I could find Tofu in smaller amounts, because as of now I do not use a lot. When Tanya gets back we talk about how we can change things.

With the weight that I have lost my pants are no longer tight and the dunlop and spare tireage not are really an concern. I feel so much better now. Yea for a plan that works.

World Citizen – At Last!

With the potential of going to Belarus under questionable political circumstances I have broken down and filed to be a World Citizen. I have wanted to do this for a really, click really long time, approved but could not justify the expense. Now, there is some reason and possible use for the documents provided by the World Service Authority (WSA).

The WSA can provide a Passport, Identification Card, Birth Certificate as well as other documents relevant to your identity and travel ability – their service is used heavily by refugees. I have filed for the aforementioned documents as well as a few others. For people, especially Americans, that are traveling abroad to places where Americans might not be looked kindly upon, an extra, or camouflage passport, is something that can help ensure our safety.

The WSA was founded by Gary Davis September 4, 1953 based on the 1948 United Nations document called the ‘Universal Declaration of Human Rights‘, specifically articles 13, 14, and 15. Give it a read. It is not too painful and is really relevant in today’s world.

The Predetermined Fate of My First 4E D&D Character

I like the answers that the book and evolutionary psychology bring to the table. In many ways I can see how their answers make a lot of sense, buy information pills especially in light of the empirical evidence they provide. Evolutionary Psychology almost seems Freudian in nature, physician no – not the you want to sleep with you mother side, medications but everything is about sex side.

I think that they are are trying too hard to be the be-all-end-all definitively answer to all of life’s questions. I think that no specific field of scientific endeavor will ever be able to answer all of those questions. As living creatures we are too complex to be reduced to ‘it is all about sex and reproduction’ for each and every ‘question’ out there. I do believe that evolution is a large part of many answers, but I also think that there are many answers that will be sociological in nature and cannot be answered via evolution.

Just a few random thoughts brought on by this book. Thanks for reading. =)

With everything that I have heard of 4E Dungeons and Dragons I am quite looking forward to playing a Warlord – which a tactical leader type class. I very much enjoy the tactical elements of the game and this class will help me to have more fun with it.

Now, gerontologist
my luck with the dice would seem to insinuate that I was not Irish, salve when in-fact I am half-Irish. At times it seems that the dice have a rather significant grudge against me, and this is well known in my gaming group. Our DM came up with this little image to show the fate that will most likely befall him. Cruel, but most likely true. =)

Why Beautiful People Have More Daughters … (Review)

I have just finished reading “Why Beautiful People Have More Daughters: From Dating, approved Shopping, and Praying to Going to War and Becoming a Billionaire– Two Evolutionary Psychologists Explain Why We Do What We Do“. Hows that for a really long book title.

This was a very interesting read. This book gives a 2 chapter intro into Evolutionary Psychology and then it is off to explaining many of humanity’s cross-cultural universal behaviors from an evolutionary psychological perspective. I think that this book is a wonderfully enlightening read. I would suggest that everyone pick it up (if you are into that sort of reading). In some cases I think that they maybe trying to hard to come up with answers, but their empirical evidence is telling.

I was previously on the ‘nurture’ side of the ‘nature vs nurture‘ argument, but with the books that I have been reading such as this plus Anatomy of Love: A Natural History of Mating, Marriage, and Why We Stray (Paperback) a (sociocultural look at mating in humans and other creatures) and The Myth of Monogamy: Fidelity and Infidelity in Animals and People (an evolutionary biological look at mating in humans and other creatures) I am seeing that our evolution greatly affects what and why we do things as humans today.

Angel’s Day (Holiday)

I started a holiday some years ago called “Angel’s Day” on May 7th to celebrate the wonderful people that have made a huge difference in my life. Those friends, click family, co-workers, or just people out of the blue that have come through for you like an angel in that moment or moments in your life.

Take some time today to tell those special people in your life that they are special and that those moments made a big difference for you and for that you are thankful.

Esperanto – The International Language?

I have mentioned before that I am pro globalization. I support the World Service Authority in their attempts to unify the world under one government. I also support the idea of a global currency and the International Fixed Calendar (IFC). A necessary piece to tie all of this together is an nation independent language that can serve as the common language medium for international interactions, troche which is what Esperanto was created for.

Esperanto has many advantages over any other language. No nation can claim Esperanto as theirs. Some countries hesitate to pick any other language for pride and political fear. None of these problems are associated with Esperanto. It was created for ease of learning and to sidestep the aforementioned problems.

If you have read this far – Thank you. I have seen that Esperanto has a word similar to ‘hu‘ (noted from my previous post) – Ĝi. I find it interesting….

Am I psycho? You might think so, hospital by now. Perhaps I will be lucky enough to have my children to speak English, find Russian, and Esperanto.

In Search of a Yoga Studio

I saw “Iron Man and, visit web wow, it was really, really good. Robert Downey Jr. was excellent in his role as Tony Stark. I was hesitant when I heard he was playing the part, but, wow, it was excellent. The acting was great. The effects are great.

If you like these sorts of movies, go see it. It was probably as good as ‘Batman Begins’.

The week that Tanya left I emailed a bunch of Madison area Yoga Studios to see if any were interested in a partnership or buyout. As expected most said that they were not interested, sales
but we currently have one that I am thinking may work out wonderfully. We will see. They are desiring to be careful with proceeding and so do I, order
so things are looking good. We are hopeful.

We bought SerenityStudios.com as a part of our long-term business plans. We hired Sedo.com, ampoule
a domain broker, to act on our behalf to purchase the domain. They were very profession and helpful. I have its email accounts setup and will be looking to move the domain to a new host, most likely DreamHost.com.
